The Camptonville Courier is the newspaper of record for the greater Camptonville area and serves as a voice of the community by providing a free monthly publication to community residents. We welcome contributions by community members of all ages, with content that educates, informs, inspires, and entertains.

The Courier serves as the historical record for the Camptonville community, with archived editions at Camptonville.net and through the University of California Davis Library’s Archives and Special Collections: https://archive-it.org/collections/5780 .
The Courier also provides a means for public agencies, local businesses, and organizations to convey information to the community, and supports our local economy by promoting area businesses through articles and paid advertising.
We cover news that is local, reliable, and solutionary (states the problem or issue and suggests solutions) and that falls within Courier Editorial Guidelines.
The Courier has been self-sustaining, thanks to our loyal advertising base, generous donors, paid subscriptions, as well as all the community volunteers who help wherever needed.
Our
Beginnings: The inspiration for creating this community newspaper came out of a
1996 Town Hall Meeting where the first “Communications Team” met: Roger Rapp
(first editor), Cathy LeBlanc, Bob Carpenter, and Dwayne Dobbins. The goal was
to create a “simple, brown-paper-wrapper kind of publication that will be
representative of all walks of life here in the greater Camptonville area.”
In 2023, we celebrated The Courier’s 26th Anniversary. We are proud that
our small community of about 650 people has kept this free, volunteer-produced,
monthly newspaper going. Many editors have held the reins since 1997 (Roger
Rapp, Rod Bondurant, the Ruff Family, Diane Winslow, Nicole Mizener, Shirley
DicKard, and now the team of Shirley DicKard, Janie Kesselman, Marcy Risque,
and Sandy Ross), along with an incredible group of dedicated volunteers.
Though the Courier retains much of its original flavor from
1997, it has also evolved to reflect the ever-changing concerns of our place,
times, and population. While social media is readily available for negativity
and complaining, our vision is to reflect the best that we can be. We
welcome contributions relevant to our small mountain region and that follow the
guidelines found on the website (camptonville.net). We look forward to hearing
